William Weber was born in upper Elmangen Wuerttenberg, Germany on April 11, 1851. He came to America in 1881 and settled in New York for one year. He then came to Holstien, Iowa for two years; then settled on a farm in Woodbury County and homesteaded the farm eighty-eight years ago (1891) west of Danbury, Iowa. This still remains today as the Weber Farm.

William Weber married Mary Maas on January 7, 1889 at St. Patricks. William Weber died July 3, 1918.

Mary Maas was born November 11, 1869 in Berlin, Germany. She came to America at the age of twelve years. Her parents were forced to go back to Berlin; however, she stayed at Soldier, Iowa for three years.

Mary Maas and her brother, August Maas had to stay in America to work and pay back the trip for the family to go back to Germany. The half-brother, Carl, asked the folks to come to America, but it did not work out so Mary Maas' father said Carl had to give them a seperate place to live or send them back. Mom (Mary) was the oldest so she and August stayed. She was very unhappy -- never had a pair of shoes to wear. She wore Carl's boots and walked to Mapleton to find work.

She worked in Mapleton, Iowa several years before moving to Danbury. In Danbury she worked at the Hotel. Upon needing much rest and recommended by her doctors, she left work at the Hotel and started to work for a family named Lewis Wilson near Oto. She met William Weber and was married on January 7, 1889.

Mary Maas Weber died December 31. 1949.
