He married MARY L. MAAS January 07, 1889 in St. Patrick's Church, Danbury, IA (Woodbury County), daughter of LOUIS MAAS and LENA (UNKNOWN). She was born November 11, 1869 in Berlin, Germany, and died December 31, 1949 in Danbury, IA (Woodbury County).
Notes for WILLIAM WEBER, SR.: William Weber was born in upper Elmangen, Wuerttenberg, Germany on April 11, 1851. He came to the United States in 1881 and settled in New York for one year. He then came to Holstien, IA for two years then settled on a farm in Woodbury County, IA. They homesteaded in 1891 and lived in a log cabin until it became too small and in 1892 had to build a new house. William Jr. (Bill) and Mary were born in the old log cabin and the rest were born in the new house. The farm is still in the family and is owned and still farmed by John's grandson (William Sr.'s great-grandson), Mark (Leo's son). The original house that was built in 1892 has since been torn down, but some of the out buildings still remain. It is a 160 acre farm.
Notes for MARY L. MAAS: Mary Maas was born on November 11, 1869 in Berlin, Germany. She came to the United States when she was 12 years old. Her parents were forced to go back to Berlin. However, she stayed at Soldier, IA for three years. She and her brother, August, had to stay in America to work and pay back the trip for the family to go back Germany. A half-brother, Carl, asked the folks to come to America, but it did not work out, so Mary's father said Carl had to give them a seperate place to live or send them back. Mary was the oldest, so she and August stayed. She was very unhappy-never had a pair of shoes to wear. She wore Carl's boots and walked to Mapleton to find work. She worked in Mapleton for 2 years then went to Danbury. In Danbury, she worked at the Hotel, but upon needing much rest and recommended by her doctors, she left work at the Hotel and started to work for a family named Lewis Wilson near Oto. She met and married William Weber. She lived on the farm until about 1920 and then moved to Danbury until her death in 1949.
