The firm, established in 1893, has been an old landmark on East Hennepin Avenue ever since. From 221 it moved to 227 E. Hennepin twenty-five years ago.
Starting, as Mr. Aime Pomerleau used to say, "on a shoe string", it has had its ups and downs, as it. weathered through the several financial depressions. But with undaunted courage, honest and skillful business methods, the former owners, Messrs. Munns and Pomerleau, built up a thriving business, with a $50,000 stock in 1922.
In 1920, Everett, son of Mr. Pomerleau, became associated with the business and when in 1929 Mr. Munns passed away, the firm's name was changed to Pomerleau and Son, the name by which it is known today. The younger son, Louamus, in 1930 also joined as a partner in the store.
Since the death of the father, the two brothers in 1941 became sole owners. The capacity of stock and business has about. doubled in the last year.
